A Halloween party is not complete without Halloween-themed party food. In this week's recipe, we made Spookylicious Dracula's Dentures Cookies with pumpkin spice chocolate chip cookies from last week. They consist of cookie sandwiches with strawberry jam and powdered sugar, fluffy mini marshmallows, pumpkin seeds and then they are assembled into the shape of Dracula's dentures. These Spookylicious and Spooktacular Dracula's Dentures cookies will creep out your party guests at your upcoming Halloween party.

Ingredient for the cookie dough:

  • 1 Set of Iced Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip cookie dough, recipe HERE

Ingredients for dracula’s denture:

  • Some mini marshmallows
  • 2 Tablespoons Strawberry Jam (-/+ adjustable)
  • 1 ½ - 2 Tablespoons Icing/powdered sugar (-/+ adjustable)
  • Some in shell pumpkin seeds (or slivered almonds)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Iced Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip cookie dough. The full written cookie dough recipe that we are using today is available HERE, and the tutorial on how to make it can be found HERE.
  2. The next day or the day you plan to bake the cookies, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or silpat.
  4. Take out the chilled cookie dough, scoop out about 2 tablespoons of dough, and roll them into a ball.
  5. Place the rolled dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or Silpat and flatten the dough into a slightly flat disc as shown either with a spoon, glass, cup or your palm.
  6. Space the cookies out in between to give them some room to expand in the baking process.
  7. Continue the same process with the remaining dough.
  8. Bake at 330 F for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cookies are slightly set and brown on the surface.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. After that, transfer them to a cooling rack. Since we want to cut the warm cookies in half, we are not going to wait for 15 minutes but for 7 minutes only.
  10. With a knife, cut cookies in half as shown. Gently transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely before we proceed to the next steps.
  11. While waiting, let's prepare the red edible adhesive and cut pumpkin seeds in half.
  12. In a small bowl, add strawberry jam and icing/powdered sugar and mix them together.
  13. Mix until it reaches the right consistency. You can always adjust or add more strawberry jam and icing/powdered sugar as you mix until it reaches the consistency that you are looking for. Note that you can always make more icing adhesive if necessary and the consistency can be adjusted.
  14. Take one cookie, bottom side up and spread some strawberry icing around cookie edges as shown.
  15. Stick mini marshmallows on the strawberry icing around the edges as shown. Place it down on a plate.
  16. Then take the other half of the cookie, and spread some strawberry icing around the edges as shown.
  17. Carefully place the cookie on top of the other cookie filled with marshmallows.
  18. Gently press them together to secure them in place to form a denture.
  19. Temporary place them on a cooling rack for it to set while you continue/repeat the whole process with the remaining.
  20. When you are done with the process above, wait for at least 10 minutes or so for it to slightly set before adding pumpkin seed.
  21. Take one half of a cut pumpkin seed and dip the cut edges in the strawberry icing before sticking them on the marshmallow.
  22. Do this both left and right to create fangs. Don't worry about the mess, as we want a natural look of red stains everywhere.
  23. Repeat the whole process with the remaining.
  24. Place the cookies on a plate or cooling rack and let all the icing set on the dentures before storing in an airtight container or enjoying them right away.

Tips & Notes:

  1. We used our Iced Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe to make these Halloween-themed Dracula Denture Cookies. The recipe for the cookie dough is available on our official website HERE
  2. We used a mixture of strawberry jam with icing or powdered sugar to make the red icing for the blood stains and edible adhesive. Both ingredients can be adjusted until it reaches the right consistency.
  3. Note that you can always make more icing adhesive if necessary. We started with one small batch at first.
  4. Instead of using strawberry and powdered sugar as the icing, you can use store-bought, ready-made red icing or your choice of homemade icing as adhesive. There are no specific rules on what you can use for the red icing stain. So use what is available or convenient to you.
  5. We used in-shell pumpkin seed, but you can swap the pumpkin seed with almond slivers or anything else you can think of to form a fang. Once again, there are no specific rules on what you can use to form a fang. So use what is available or convenient to you.
  6. The red icing will slightly harden as it sets and dries.
  7. You can store the assembled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days.
  8. Don't keep the assembled cookies in the fridge as the marshmallows will harden and dry out.
  9. You can make and prepare the cookie dough ahead of time, and they can freeze for up to a month if stored properly in the freezer.
  10. When you want to bake, thaw them for a few hours or overnight in the fridge before using.
  11. Put them together into a dracula denture on the day of serving.
