About MB Creative Kitchen

Cooking encourages me to focus on that one activity that gets my mind off things if I have a bad day. In cooking, I find Joy, Freedom, Social & Love.

Joy:

I have a passion for food and cooking. I'm not a “pro” chef but a self-taught home cook. I learn through trial & error. I get tremendous satisfaction from finding new ingredients for cooking, creating new recipes, experimenting & combining flavours and even modifying our all time favourite recipes to our own preferences. I love cooking. It’s my favourite activity because it makes me happy!

Freedom:

I believe each of us has our own unique taste buds and preferences when it comes to food. I/We have the freedom to cook anything I/We want. We have no right to judge how people enjoy their food. It may be delicious to them but not everyone. So, respect everyone’s preferences. I/You make the rules in my/your own kitchen. No such thing as "hey, you can't put this & that.. or you didn't put Cilantro in your dish”. I mean , Hello?! Who will be eating that? Yes! That will be you. Freedom! So yeah, remember: don’t let this discourage you. Your kitchen, your rule.

Social:

Cooking is a social skill. My husband is excited when I cook because he knows it will be exciting and interesting. Hanging out with friends or family with a delicious home-cooked meal served on the table by me makes me very happy. A compliment or thumbs-up from my friends/guests after they clean their plates? That makes me happy. When I cook for people I care about and they respond back with a simple “Thank You, it was delicious” to me is more than a thank you. It’s a huge encouragement. It’s like: “Hey, great job! Keep it up!”.

Love:

Seeing the smiles on my husband’s or friends’ faces as they enjoy a particular dish or dessert prepared by me - that is Love to me. It makes me so happy to see my husband or friends smile and their bellies full!
