It's the start of the 2021 NFL season! Make your game night different by trying something new. Why not Asian-flavored chicken wings instead of the regular Buffalo or barbecue flavoured wings? You should try these yummy and incredibly easy-to-make roasted wings. The wings are perfectly roasted in an air fryer, less oily but packed with flavor. These wings will have your guests licking their lips in no time. A Super Bowl party or NFL game night would not be complete without some tasty chicken wings!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Kingzest New Orleans Roast Chicken Marinade Powder
  • 12 Wings (Mix Drumettes and wingettes)
  • 1/2-1 Tablespoon Salt (-/+ adjustable)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Shaoxing Wine / Chinese Cooking Wine
  • 1 Tablespoon Light Soy Sauce
  • 1 - 1 ½ Tablespoons Grapeseed oil (or your choice of oil)

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the chicken wings with a kitchen towel and place them in a large bowl.
  2. Add salt, black pepper, Shaoxing wine, New Orleans Roast Marinate Powder, light soy sauce and toss to coat.
  3. Marinate the wings for at least two hours in the fridge or even better, overnight for extra flavor.
  4. Place the marinated wings into the air fryer tray/basket (I lined them with foil for easy cleaning).
  5. Set the air fryer temperature at 160 C for 20-25 minutes. Flip part way through just to ensure even browning. Then increase the heat/temperature at 180 C for an extra 5-8 minutes for a darker brown before turning it off. Please note that the cook time may vary depending on your air fryer. Adjust the temperature/time accordingly until they are cooked through.
  6. Remove the wings from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving plate, and enjoy!

Tips & Notes

  1. This special edition of New Orleans Roast Marinate as shown can be found in most Asian grocery stores or online.
  2. Worst-case scenario, if you can’t find this New Orleans Roast Marinate, feel free to replace it with any New Orleans Seasoning of your choice. Please note that the taste might not be the exact same.
  3. You can use sea salt, kosher salt, or any kind of salt of your choice. Adjust salt according to your taste buds.
  4. Air fryer temperatures may vary. Each air fryer model works differently. Ensure the wing is cooked thoroughly and adjust the temperature/time accordingly. Add extra minutes of cooking time if needed.
  5. If you don't have an air fryer, you can use this recipe and bake the wings for 35-45 minutes or until cooked thoroughly in a preheated oven at 340 degrees F. Adjust the temperature and time accordingly.
  6. Shaoxing Wine/Chinese Cooking Wine can be replaced with dry sherry or Mirin. If you can not drink alcohol, omit it.
  7. You can use any other cooking oil of your choice instead of grapeseed oil.
  8. My recipe ingredients above served two, but you can double or triple them up for a big serving
