Spicy Szechuan Peppercorn Peanuts
If you love peanuts as a snack, you have to try this popular spicy & full with flavour homemade Szechuan peppercorn peanuts. Your next movie night, party night or even a snack to go with your favourite drinks, this hot & spicy peanuts definitely won’t let you down!
Ingredients
- 1.5-2 Cups dry roasted & unsalted peanuts
- 1 Teaspoon Chopped Fresh Garlic
- 1-2 Tablespoons Dried Chilli (blended, add 2 tbsp for extra spicy & 1 tbsp for mild)
- 1 Tablespoon Szechuan peppercorn
- 1.5 Tablespoons Cooking oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Soak around 6 dried chillies overnight. Drain and discard water.
- Cut each chillies in half with stems and seeds removed.
- Coarse blend chillies in a blender or with an immersion hand blender. Set aside.
- Roughly chop fresh garlic, set aside.
- Heat up a pan or skillet with cooking oil over medium heat.
- Add in dried chillies, garlic & peppercorn.
- Stir fry them until fragrant for about 2 minutes under low heat
- Add roasted peanuts and continue to stir until well combined for one minutes under low heat.
- Add salt to taste and continue to stir for another 5 minutes before turning off the heat.
- Let them cool completely before storing in an airtight container.

Tips & Notes
- I used/bought dry roasted & unsalted peanuts from a bulk food retailer.
- Adjust peppercorn, salt and chilli according to your taste buds.
- Any left over or extra blended dried chillies can be stored in a freezer up to 3 weeks in an airtight container for next use in cooking.
